Frequently Asked Questions

Find clear answers to common questions about starting therapy, my pluralistic approach, and how we can work together to support your mind and body.

Getting Started & Practical Questions

Yes, I provide a brief, informal chat over the phone before you book anything. This helps us discuss what you hope to get from counselling and ensures you feel entirely comfortable moving forward.

My quiet, private therapy room is located at Fresh Futures in the centre of Batley. It is a peaceful, confidential space designed to help you slow down and feel at ease.

Absolutely. I understand that daily life can be busy, so we can easily mix face-to-face sessions in Batley with secure online appointments to fit your weekly schedule.

I completely understand that unexpected things crop up. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel a session so that we can find an alternative time that works for you.

Each standard counselling session lasts for 50 minutes. Payments can be made securely via bank transfer prior to our session, or we can discuss payment options during our initial consultation.

It simply means I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health. Instead of locking us into just one rigid method, we work as a team to blend different tools and traditional talking therapies to suit your exact needs.

Our first session is a gentle, collaborative consultation. We will explore what brought you to therapy and look at your goals. It is also a wonderful opportunity for you to see if you feel comfortable working with me.

Because every person is entirely unique, there is no set number. Some people find a few sessions give them the clarity they need, while others prefer longer-term support. We will regularly check in on your progress together.

Emotional stress often shows up physically as tension, fatigue, or panic. By paying attention to both your mind and body, we can get to the root cause of your struggles rather than just managing surface symptoms.

You do not need to prepare anything at all. There is no pressure to have your thoughts perfectly organised or to dive into difficult topics straight away. You can just come as you are.

Questions About My Approach

Questions About Who I Help & How We Work

Yes, I work with young people aged 12 and over. Trust is incredibly important, so what is shared in our sessions stays strictly confidential, adhering safely to professional safeguarding guidelines.

While the sessions are confidential to give the young person a safe space to speak freely, I often meet briefly with parents during the initial consultation to ensure everyone feels supported and informed.

I provide a neutral, calm environment where both partners are heard equally. We focus on identifying repetitive arguments, improving communication, and finding a positive, shared path forward together.

It is very common for one partner to feel nervous or hesitant. Our first session is simply an informal consultation where both of you can share your perspectives without pressure or judgement before deciding whether to move forward.

I regularly support individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, low mood, bereavement, past trauma, and the heavy physical exhaustion of burnout.
